Fuchsite is a dark green variety of muscovite. A mineral from Brazil, it is a green quartz similar to mica. The old European deposits were in Schwarzenstein, Tyrol and Romania. The intense emerald green coloration is produced by the presence of chromium silicates in the mineral.
