The Crash Course Series introduces our diverse products to people that want to work with raw materials. Each segment focuses on a particular type of paint, and they can be taken in any order. We demonstrate basic methods step-by-step, discuss recipes and ratios, and empower paint-makers of all abilities.
Like cooking, making paint is a “simple” technique that gets refined with practice. If you have only ever painted with pre-made gesso and paint, come to a "Crash Course" to see what hand-made paint is all about. It's as different as a home-cooked meal compared to fast-food. This class is beginner-friendly. No judgement if your not interested in making ALL of your own paint! This is a demo/lecture class, not hands-on. Bring your notebook, camera, and all your technical questions!

There is a limit of 20 people for each Crash Course. Your enthusiasm for our workshops means that these will inevitably fill up quickly.

We need you to know:
- Our store is wheelchair accessible but our basement classroom is not.
- Cancel for a refund for store credit by the Wednesday before the class date.
- “No-shows” without cancelation in advance cannot be refunded.
- Sorry but we cannot extend the workshop time to give you more time to make paint.
